Want the BEST OMEGA-3 out There? I have it!!

Why so many differences when it comes to Omegas?

If you are like me, you know the benefit of omega-3 fatty acids in your daily intake, but don't get nearly enough from your food intake.  I could eat all kinds of food with omegas if I just lived on a coast and not in the middle of Missouri.  If you have ever had Salmon cooked that was just pulled from the ocean that day, you would never go back to store bought salmon.  Which is why I do not get enough through my food intake.  Now, if you are also like me (some aren't), you might have tried LOTS of different fish oil capsules trying to get the omega you need without the burps.  Yep, I've tried lots.  I've also tried freezing them and ingesting frozen since I had read the capsule is far into your digestive tract before thawing out and thus- not burping.

Sad. but this didn't work for me either.  I had been searching for a "fish oil" for a couple years, when my husband started selling advocare for their performance line and I fell in love with spark (if you haven't heard of spark-- read a previous post).  As I was searching the website about a month or two after my husband started selling these nutritional supplements, I came across OmegaPlex.
OmegaPlex has been my omega 3 fatty acid supplement for a couple months.  This is the only fish oil type supplement out of ALL those I've tried that haven't made me burp! And this prduct contains both EPA and DHA fatty acids.  I'm also hoping for a reduction in my cholesterol now that I'm taking an omega regularly.  I have a health fair at work in about a month and i'll find out my numbers then.  I have been running a little high so I'm hopeful.

So if you want to purchase the best omega's out there, check them out here:  https://www.advocare.com/140261313/Store/ItemDetail.aspx?itemCode=W2002&id=search
Keep smiling and be healthy!!

Ready to Add some Strength Training?

If you are anything like me, cardio workouts (walking, biking, whatever) are just easier to work in.  You can walk all day long and if you do it briskly-- its a work out.  I have a desk job.  So I sit or drive much of each day.  The way I get more "steps" in (because I do use a fitbit), is walking back and forth to the copy machine a lot.  Several times a day I am walking briskly to the copier or just a 5 minute break every couple hours to walk quickly up and down the halls of my office.

The more difficult thing for me to work in is strength training.  Its just not as easy for me to fit into my day.  I might try a few push ups once a day or a few sit ups or planks-- but just not as often as I should.  I should because strength training is so important for women over 40.  Strength training will help keep your muscles and bones strong and decrease the probability of osteoporosis.  I am all for that!
Check out this really EASY video I found through Megan Ewoldsen's facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=697648843626890  Using your own body as the resistance means you can do this at home and not have to go to the gym and no expensive equipment.  Love it.

Why Do What I Do?

I had always been thin my whole life.  I could eat everything I wanted and not gain a pound.  I was blessed with a fast metabolism and I did LOVE it.  So around the age of 35 when I quit smoking and my metabolism came to a screeching halt I put on about 25 pounds over the next 5 years.   I had never exercised and really didn't know the first thing about getting healthy.  I DID know I wanted to lose those pounds.  So here I was, 40 years old 25 pounds heavier than I would like and I had to start watching what I ate.  I really started eating healthier but I still tended to eat a lot.  What can I say?  I love food. So I started the yo yo effect.  I would lose a few pounds, gain a few pounds.  This went on for the next couple years.  Then I started getting serious.  I stopped telling myself I couldn't do it and began telling myself "its all math".  You have to expend more calories than you take in.  I started using a fitbit and myfitnesspal both.  I have worn a fitbit for over the last year and I took off 15 pounds.  I am now within 10 pounds of my pre-35 weight and it is so within reach! I have found I like getting up early and walking or riding my bike.  I'm drinking more water and taking supplements and I feel great. Losing weight and getting healthy is not a diet.  Its a life style change- advocare has helped me adjust to that change.  I'll talk about my first foray into that next time.  Happy Saturday and Keep Moving!

My Story

I was a two a day Dr Pepper drinker for years.  I LOVED it.  But I think what i loved was the caffeine.  When i was in my mid 30s my metabolism came to a screeching halt and i gained about 20 pounds pretty quickly.  That's when i switched to diet Dr Pepper assuming that would help me shed those pounds i was packing on from drinking so much soda.  I continued drinking Diet for about the next 8 years.  But i always felt bad.  Physically bad--- tired all the time, would get a physical crash in the afternoon and my muscles were starting to ache all the time.  I was beginning to believe i was getting aspartame poisoning, and i still wasn't losing weight.  Then I was turned on to Spark from Advocare---
Spark comes in indivdual packets, large canisters or in the skinny Spark to Go packets as in the pictuure.  There are lots of flavors-- mango strawberry, green apple, grape, watermelon and fruit punch just to name a few.  Since i started spark i no longr get that afternoon physical crash, but i still get the energy.  Spark is AMAZING!!  I stopped drinking soda about 2 months ago.  And i am now within 5 pounds of my ideal weight.  If you want to try some spark and see what it can do for you-- come check it out.  www.advovare.com/140261313 and then search for Spark.

If you'd like a free sample, message me and i'll send you one. I want everyone to learn what i've learned.  Get Spark and get some pep back in your step!

During the HOT Months, you must get REHYDRATE!!

This Awesome product by Advocare is an absolute MUST in the hot summer months before/ during/ or after a workout of any kind.  I use it all year long to replace amino acids lost through exercise, but it is imperative in the summer months.  I like it much better than Gatorade.  Tastes better and has less calories.
It comes as a replacement drink, as pictured above OR as a gel.  These gels are perfect during runs or long bike rides.

Whichever way you like it-- you can get! There are more flavor options in the powder:  Fruit Punch, Key Lime Cherry, Mango Pineapple, Peach and Red Raspberry.  The Rehydrate Gel comes in only Lemon.
Rehydrate:
  • Helps the body stay hydrated during physical activity
  • Provides a full spectrum of crucial electrolytes for improved electrolyte balance
  • Includes amino acids to help feed your muscles
  • Fuels your body with carbohydrates for energy production and sustained muscle endurance
  • Contains antioxidants to fight free radicals commonly produced during exercise
  • Helps prevent cramping during and after exercise

  • Best yet: these products by advocare are doctor developed and tested.  Rehydrate can be used by anyone over the age of 4!  That's right 4-- so purchase the large tub because not only will you love it-- but your youngsters involved in sports this summer will be able to play strong longer. You can purchase this product here:  https://www.advocare.com/140261313/Store/ItemDetail.aspx?itemCode=A2431&id=search&flavor=m&size=C
If you have any questions, feel free to ask or email us at snkyach@embarqmail.com  Once you try this method of rehydration, you wont want to go back to those other sports drinks!

The Vitamin Shoppe Next Steps Fit N' Full Shakes

I received several products from +Influenster to try out in the New #GoVoxBox.  My first review is on the +The Vitamin Shoppe #NextStep Shakes.  I try to watch what I eat anyway.  So this fit into my daily routine perfect.

I tried the French Vanilla the First day with Skim Milk.  LOVED it!

The Vanilla and Chocolate mix up well in the shaker cup-- The Fresh Berry flavor did not.

My excited look when I decided to try it the first day.
As you can tell by the ripped packages, I have finished all three flavors over the last 3 days

What I like about Next Steps Shakes by the Vatamin Shoppe?
    • Relatively low calorie.  Its the equivalent of oatmeal in the morning
    • Protein!!  14 grams of protein in the powder alone.  Which keeps you fuller longer
    • A quick- easy to grab for breakfast on the go for those that are always running late!
    • Mixed up great!!  Who hasn't had a protein shake that wouldn't mix up?  These mixed up great!!
    • (At least vanilla and chocolate did-- the Berry flavor did mix as well.  a little clumpy)
    • The Shaker Bottle is pink and black-- my favorite colors!
    What I didn't like?
    • I wish the packet had more mix to go with a larger glass of milk.  The 8 oz of milk went really fast!!
    • The Berry flavor did not mix up nicely with the shaker bottle.
    • The fact that I do not have a Vitamin Shoppe anywhere near me to run out and get some more.  I will have to look online.

    Love of learning

Health includes a healthy mind.  I am fortunate enough to have been allowed to attend the National Counsel of Behavioral Health 2014.  This year it is in National Harbor, MD just outside of Washington, DC.  I like when you've had an ah-ha moment.  I have been in the field of mental health for over 20 years and have not considered that perhaps an "oppositional defiant" youth is so simply because they are in a perpetual state of dysregulation.  We have to assist in the basic needs first and through meeting basic needs we can assist in regulating the entire family system.

Tired but still got on the treadmill

My alarm went off at 520am this morning as it does most mornings.  Some mornings I hit snooze and some I get up and get on the treadmill.  I do notice that if I "prepare" the night before, I'm more likely to get up and get moving.  Preparing for me is simple.  I just put my exercise clothes in the bathroom.  I don't know why it's always a crapshoot whether I will get up or not.  I know I feel better on days I get up and exercise.  I tend to be less grouchy, more alert and don't get tired in the afternoons like I do on days I get no exercise.  Exercise is proven to be a natural combatant of depression and anxiety as well.  The endorphins released during exercise is so helpful to daily function.
So I did spend 40 minutes on the treadmill this morning and then went down and drank my daily spark.

This I LOVE!  I used to drink tons of soda.  I have gone back and forth between regular and diet soda.  About a 6 months ago I decided I needed to stop drinking diet.  It was slowly poisoning me.  I was having muscles aches and other symptoms that I couldn't attribute to anything else.  So I started drinking regular dr. pepper.  Of course I was a 2-3 soda a day drinker so I immediately gained weight.  (over 10 pounds rather quickly)  Well, I did not want that to occur.  I had been working hard to keep a healthy weight.  Then I was invited to a get together where someone was talking about Advocare.  I had never heard of it, but I thought I'd give it a try.  I did the herbal cleanse for 10 days and immediately dropped 7 pounds.  Part of the cleanse was stopping soda.  I actually did not stop soda all together during the cleanse and still lost 7 pounds.  I then tried spark.  It is touted to have a caffeine like energy without the caffeine.  And now I'm hooked.  I love the watermelon flavor and drink it in place of soda.  It gives me energy without the drop in energy when the sugar wears off.  It is incredible.  And now that I'm not drinking soda... I am losing more weight as well.  If you are interested in Advocare, feel free to message me or go to https://www.advocare.com/140261313/

    Live your life happy now!

We are a family that loves the outdoors.  My husband is really the one that LOVES exercise.  My daughter and I could take it or leave it, but to keep up with my husband we have had to adapt.  I have found that the older I get the harder it is to stay at a healthy weight, so I am constantly looking for activity to build into my day that's fun.  Over Christmas vacation this year we went to Moab, Utah and hiked the Arches National Park.  That was breathtaking!  I loved it!  We stayed in a quaint little cabin in town and then hiked each day.  Lots of exercise and lots of experiences we wouldn't normally have.  Starting to plan the next vacation.
