Ready to Add some Strength Training?

If you are anything like me, cardio workouts (walking, biking, whatever) are just easier to work in.  You can walk all day long and if you do it briskly-- its a work out.  I have a desk job.  So I sit or drive much of each day.  The way I get more "steps" in (because I do use a fitbit), is walking back and forth to the copy machine a lot.  Several times a day I am walking briskly to the copier or just a 5 minute break every couple hours to walk quickly up and down the halls of my office.

The more difficult thing for me to work in is strength training.  Its just not as easy for me to fit into my day.  I might try a few push ups once a day or a few sit ups or planks-- but just not as often as I should.  I should because strength training is so important for women over 40.  Strength training will help keep your muscles and bones strong and decrease the probability of osteoporosis.  I am all for that!
Check out this really EASY video I found through Megan Ewoldsen's facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=697648843626890  Using your own body as the resistance means you can do this at home and not have to go to the gym and no expensive equipment.  Love it.

Why Do What I Do?

I had always been thin my whole life.  I could eat everything I wanted and not gain a pound.  I was blessed with a fast metabolism and I did LOVE it.  So around the age of 35 when I quit smoking and my metabolism came to a screeching halt I put on about 25 pounds over the next 5 years.   I had never exercised and really didn't know the first thing about getting healthy.  I DID know I wanted to lose those pounds.  So here I was, 40 years old 25 pounds heavier than I would like and I had to start watching what I ate.  I really started eating healthier but I still tended to eat a lot.  What can I say?  I love food. So I started the yo yo effect.  I would lose a few pounds, gain a few pounds.  This went on for the next couple years.  Then I started getting serious.  I stopped telling myself I couldn't do it and began telling myself "its all math".  You have to expend more calories than you take in.  I started using a fitbit and myfitnesspal both.  I have worn a fitbit for over the last year and I took off 15 pounds.  I am now within 10 pounds of my pre-35 weight and it is so within reach! I have found I like getting up early and walking or riding my bike.  I'm drinking more water and taking supplements and I feel great. Losing weight and getting healthy is not a diet.  Its a life style change- advocare has helped me adjust to that change.  I'll talk about my first foray into that next time.  Happy Saturday and Keep Moving!

My Story

I was a two a day Dr Pepper drinker for years.  I LOVED it.  But I think what i loved was the caffeine.  When i was in my mid 30s my metabolism came to a screeching halt and i gained about 20 pounds pretty quickly.  That's when i switched to diet Dr Pepper assuming that would help me shed those pounds i was packing on from drinking so much soda.  I continued drinking Diet for about the next 8 years.  But i always felt bad.  Physically bad--- tired all the time, would get a physical crash in the afternoon and my muscles were starting to ache all the time.  I was beginning to believe i was getting aspartame poisoning, and i still wasn't losing weight.  Then I was turned on to Spark from Advocare---
Spark comes in indivdual packets, large canisters or in the skinny Spark to Go packets as in the pictuure.  There are lots of flavors-- mango strawberry, green apple, grape, watermelon and fruit punch just to name a few.  Since i started spark i no longr get that afternoon physical crash, but i still get the energy.  Spark is AMAZING!!  I stopped drinking soda about 2 months ago.  And i am now within 5 pounds of my ideal weight.  If you want to try some spark and see what it can do for you-- come check it out.  www.advovare.com/140261313 and then search for Spark.

If you'd like a free sample, message me and i'll send you one. I want everyone to learn what i've learned.  Get Spark and get some pep back in your step!
